I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a hardworking, working-class family. My parents worked tirelessly to provide for our family of six and placed a strong emphasis on education, faith, and responsibility. They made sacrifices to ensure their children had opportunities to succeed, values that continue to shape who I am today.
I graduated from Highland High School and continued my education at the University of New Mexico. With the encouragement of my parents and the support of my husband, I became the first member of my immediate family to graduate from college, earning both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

My parents also taught us the importance of work ethic, living within our means, and planning for the future. Those lessons shaped how my husband and I raised our children and managed our household.

I met my husband in 1987, and we have been married for 33 years and together for 38. We are blessed with five children and ten grandchildren. In 1998, I left my teaching career to become a full-time stay-at-home mom, homeschooling four of our five children. That season of life taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of putting family first—lessons that continue to guide me today.

We are also a proud military family. My husband served in the United States Air Force, our oldest served in the United States Marines, our daughter served in the United States Army, and our son-in-law is currently serving in the United States Army. Our family understands the meaning of service, sacrifice, and commitment to something greater than ourselves.

I believe strong families create strong communities. The stability, values, and responsibility learned at home are the same qualities that make neighborhoods safer, governments more accountable, and cities stronger. My family has been my greatest teacher, and their influence continues to shape how I lead, serve, and show up for the community.

Transparency and accountability are the bedrock of a government that serves its people.
